Solid-liquid separation, product washing, and drying are critical steps in the API and pharmaceutical industries.

As HTK-SF puts it, “Drying is the art of effective evaporation.” Achieving this requires a process that is uniform, dust-free, reproducible in residual moisture, and as gentle as possible. Our TZT Centrifugal Dryer (FSD) uses fluidized bed drying with an innovative counter-pulse sequence, delivering superior performance compared to conventional technologies. During the hovering phase, each crystal is fully exposed, ensuring excellent heat transfer and rapid drying. The process is gentle, with continuous mixing maintaining consistent product temperature without mechanical stress. HTK-SF’s centrifugal dryers are available in batch sizes from 5 to 800 liters.

Drying is typically performed in multiple stages, beginning only after solid-liquid separation reaches its limit due to the higher energy demands of thermal drying. Energy efficiency is therefore a key consideration for manufacturers.

While solid-liquid separation and drying are often handled as separate steps during process development, combining them can deliver better results, reducing handling efforts and minimizing commissioning challenges. The presence of potent compounds in modern pharmaceuticals requires strict containment and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to prevent cross-contamination and protect operators.
